The main wall when you enter our apartment has very quickly become my favorite due to our vintage art. I have relied on Etsy to source ‘vintage’ printables which helped me pull off a curated and collected gallery wall. I’ve been scouring thrift stores to continue my collection and would love to add an oval frame, as well as a black sconce. If you are interested in creating your own, I wrote more about gallery walls here: Gallery Wall.
Choosing Your Art:
I tend to gravitate towards landscape paintings, black and white sketches, as well as oil paintings. However, art is so personal. I recommend only purchasing art that speaks to YOU. I love sourcing my own artwork, but I know this can be hard. For this reason, Etsy has many prearranged gallery ideas. You can simply type something like, ‘gallery wall set’ and multiple options will appear.
Once you have selected your artwork, the next step is matting/framing. I have some of my grandmother’s art that I really wanted to preserve. In this case, I went to Michael’s and had each professionally matted and framed. However, you can easily purchase and frame your own vintage art. For more guidance, I went ahead and created a ‘Frames’ section within my Amazon Storefront.
I hope this encourages you to hang art! Do not be afraid to experiment and have fun! Our walls are supposed to feel lived in, so get out those nails and hammer and get to work 😊
